EVOLUTION OF SPORT ARCHITECTURE & ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS

Please join SEGD President, Amy Lukas, as she introduces Michael Wekesser, lead designer in Gensler's Los Angeles office with more than 26 years of experience in architecture and more than 17 years in sports facility design.

Sports has a powerful hold over the American culture and economy. The roots of the sports movement took hold in the 19th century, with the invention and refinement of baseball, basketball, and football. As these sports increased in popularity, the need for buildings designed specifically for them became evident, and sports architecture was born. A discussion of the five waves, or trends in American sports architecture and environmental graphics includes predictions about the future of the industry.
