It’s June, the days are longer, outdoor events are in full swing and the call for submissions to the annual Design Arts Utah ’14 exhibition is currently open. Design Arts Utah is an annual exhibition that features work submitted by Utah designers across various design fields that have been selected by a juror prominent in design. This year’s juror is Ellen Lupton, the senior curator of contemporary design at theSmithsonian Cooper-Hewit National Design Museum in New York City. The deadline for all submission is June 27, 2014. The Design Arts Utah ’14 exhibition will run form August 29 – October 17 at the Rio Gallery located at 300 S. Rio Grande Street. Get more info on how to apply.
On another note, it’s time to mark your calendar for Salt Lake Design Week, running from October 13–18. Autumn seems so far from now but before you know it, you’ll be pulling out your argyle sweaters, fingerless gloves and infinity scarves to stay warm. We are thrilled to partner up with DesignArts Utah this year in order to have them host their exhibition as well as a Salt Lake Gallery Stroll DesignArts ’14 closing reception on October 17th, 2014.
The event planning for SLDW has already begun and we can’t wait to share with you what the SLDW committee has scheduled. To keep you satisfied until then, AIGA, YAF, and CityHome Collective are hosting a Beaux Arts Ball for this year’s Design Week Closing Party on October 18th, 2014. Stay tuned for more details.
